Presidency Talk Say Tinubu Fit Govern Nigeria From Anywhere for World

The Presidency don respond to questions from former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi about who dey in charge of Nigeria while President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima dey outside the country.

Daniel Bwala, wey be President Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Policy Communication, say the President fit govern Nigeria from anywhere for the world. He make the statement on Tuesday while reacting to comments from Atiku and Peter Obi.

At the moment, according to the report, President Tinubu dey on vacation for Paris, France, while Vice President Shettima dey United States to attend the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

Atiku, wey dey contest under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and Peter Obi, wey dey contest under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), had questioned who dey effectively in charge of the country while both Tinubu and Shettima dey outside Nigeria.

But Bwala reject the concern. He argue say the President’s ability to govern Nigeria no depend on where physically e dey.

According to Bwala, Section 5 of the Nigerian Constitution gives the President executive powers, including the authority to direct, delegate and administer government responsibilities. He also point to the President’s position as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

Bwala say because the President and Vice President travel outside the country no mean say government don stop or say nobody dey responsible for running Nigeria.

He also criticize Atiku and Obi, saying dem never clearly explain the alternative way wey dem want use to govern the country. Bwala describe their comments as political rhetoric and challenge both opposition politicians to explain their own policy direction.

The issue don spark political discussion about presidential leadership, delegation of authority and how government should operate when the President and Vice President dey outside the country.

While Bwala’s statement represents the position of the Presidency, questions about presidential travel and the practical running of government remain part of the wider political debate among Nigerians and opposition politicians.
