2027 Election: INEC Reveal 10 States Wey Get Highest Registered Voters

As Nigeria dey gradually move closer to the 2027 general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, don release the latest figures showing the states wey get the highest number of registered voters across the country.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, disclose the figures on Tuesday during the commission’s World Press Conference for Abuja. The briefing form part of INEC preparations and planning ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to the figures, Lagos State get the highest number of registered voters in Nigeria, with a total of 7,488,633 voters. Kano State follow closely with 6,000,570 registered voters, making both states the only two states wey don cross the six-million mark.

Kaduna State occupy third position with 4,000,640 registered voters, while Katsina come fourth with 3,876,051.

For fifth position, Oyo State get 3,588,111 registered voters, followed by Delta State with 3,525,988. Benue State record 3,057,225, while Rivers State get 3,000,734 registered voters.

Ogun State come ninth with 3,037,981 registered voters, while Bauchi State complete the top 10 with 3,000,047 voters.

The figures mean say these states go carry significant weight for the 2027 elections because of the large number of registered voters wey dey there. Lagos alone get more than 7.4 million registered voters, making the state a major electoral battleground ahead of the presidential, governorship, National Assembly and other elections.

With political parties already positioning themselves ahead of 2027, the INEC figures fit also influence how candidates and parties dey plan their campaigns, especially for states wey get millions of registered voters.

But beyond the number of registered voters, the big issue for the 2027 election go still be how many voters actually turn up on election day, how credible the process go be, and whether INEC fit deliver a free, fair and transparent election.
