LAMIDO: POLITICIANS DON ABANDON NAIJA YOUTHS, DEY USE DEM AS POLITICAL MACHINERY

Former Jigawa State Governor and PDP founding member, Sule Lamido, don raise concern over the way politicians dey use Nigerian youths for political activities without doing enough to prepare dem for the future.

Speaking for Dutse, Jigawa State, Lamido say na because of im concern about the future of the country and the challenges wey young Nigerians dey face make e choose to meet with youths instead of holding the usual gathering with political elites.

According to am, political leaders don fail to give young people the mentorship, character formation and guidance wey dem need. He question why leaders no fit give today’s youths the same kind support and direction wey previous generations receive when dem dey young.

Lamido also criticise the way some politicians dey mobilise youths for activities involving thuggery, hatred, abuse and disrespect, instead of encouraging constructive political engagement based on ideas and principles.

He urged youths across PDP, APC, ADC and other political parties make dem no see themselves as enemies. According to him, young Nigerians from different political camps still share many of the same problems and aspirations.

The former governor called on political leaders and other stakeholders to invest more in youths through quality education, employment opportunities, mentorship and leadership development. He said Nigeria’s future depends on how well the younger generation is prepared to take over leadership.

Lamido also urged youths from the North, South, East and West to recognise their common interests and responsibilities, saying the country can only achieve sustainable development when young people are prepared for leadership with competence, integrity, tolerance and national responsibility.
