PLATEAU TIGHTEN HEALTH SAFETY AS TINCITY METRO INTRODUCE “NO FACE MASK, NO ENTRY” RULE
Passengers wey dey use TinCity Metro buses for Plateau State go now need to wear face mask before dem fit enter bus, as part of fresh measures to help stop the spread of diphtheria for the state.
The management of Plateau Express Services Group announce say the “No Face Mask, No Entry” policy go start from Tuesday, September 8, 2026, and e go remain in place until further notice. The rule go apply to all TinCity Metro buses wey dey carry passengers around Jos metropolis.
Management explain say dem take the decision because of the need to create safer public transport environment as the state dey intensify efforts to control diphtheria outbreak. Since buses dey carry plenty people together inside enclosed spaces, health authorities dey concerned say respiratory infections fit spread easily when people dey in close contact.
To make the enforcement easier for commuters, TinCity Metro say dem go provide limited face masks at selected boarding points when the new rule begin. But passengers don still dey advised make dem come along with their own face masks, because the available masks no go necessarily reach everybody.

The management also appeal to passengers make dem cooperate with drivers and other TinCity Metro personnel, stressing say prevention of disease outbreak no be government work alone, but something wey require everybody to play their part.
The new transport rule come as Plateau State health authorities dey raise concern over the spread of diphtheria, a bacterial infection wey fit spread through respiratory droplets and close contact with infected persons.
Plateau State Commissioner for Health, Nicholas Baamlong, earlier disclosed say the state don record 148 suspected cases, while 23 people reportedly die within the preceding two weeks.
Among those currently receiving treatment, eight patients dey Jos University Teaching Hospital, while another five patients dey Plateau Specialist Hospital.
With the number of suspected cases and deaths raising concern, the face-mask policy for TinCity Metro buses na one of the measures authorities dey use to reduce the possibility of further transmission, especially among commuters wey dey travel together every day.
